Scott Sorkin concentrates his practice in the areas of insurance laws and regulations and business law. His practice consists primarily of the representation of insurance companies, including reciprocals, exchanges, mutuals, stock companies, risk retention groups, captives, group self-insurance trusts, and alternative risk transfer vehicles. He also represents insurance management companies and agents. He provides daily guidance to his clients on a number of general corporate, regulatory, transactional, insurance coverage, and intellectual property matters. Scott has considerable experience and regularly assists insurance clients with obtaining approval for their rates and forms and other regulatory filings and resolving compliance issues with the Virginia Bureau of Insurance. In addition, his practice includes the organization, licensure, acquisition, sale, capitalization and restructuring of insurance companies.

Scott also has considerable experience representing a broad array of other businesses and professionals in business planning, including choice of entity, mergers and acquisitions, business sales, physician contracts, employment, financing, real estate, non-competition agreements, tax-exempt bond financings, tax, and other matters.
